Dear Deirdre Tay,
Thank you for using our online request service.
Due to damage caused by Typhoon Morakot, the Alishan Forest Railway main line from Jiayi to Alishan is currently out of commission.
The Hungu Alishan Railway Company has informed us that the railway is currently under a full-scale reconstruction. However, the date when it will be fully operational has yet to be determined.
Sincerely,
The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration

My Japanese friends want to visit Alishan. They would like to have a guided tour in Japanese. Who can help me arrange this tour? Thank you.

Hello Adrian,
Thank you for using our online request service.
We can provide a volunteer Japanese tour guide to show your friends around for a basic fee. We do have one request, however. We have only one Japanese guide, so it would be helpful if you can let us know the following information in advance for us to make the necessary arrangements.
1.The date and time of their visit
2.Location: For example, Fenqihu or the Alishan Forest Recreation Area
3.Number of visitors
4.Contact person and phone number (from the group who will be visiting)
The fee for the Japanese tour guide is as follows:
Half-day: NT$2,000
Full-day: NT$3,600
Or, you can also contact the Jiayi Forest District Office, the jurisdiction unit of the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, which offers free guided tours for tour groups around the recreation area.
To apply for guided tours, please visit:
http://volunteers.forest.gov.tw/sp.asp?xdURL=apply/apply01.asp&subjectId=14854&ctNode=279
The website for the Jiayi Forest District Office (includes English and Japanese versions) is: http://www.forest.gov.tw/mp.asp?mp=1
If you decide to go with the tour guide provided by our center, we would ask the Japanese tour guide to contact your Japanese friends directly.
All the best,
Alishan National Scenic Area Administration |
